Hi everyone! I'm in New Zealand for a week visiting wineries. After landing in Queenstown, we drove over to Lake Wanaka!
We had an afternoon of free time and took a little hike around the lake...
We passed several canoes, but it was drizzling and not so ideal for boating.
The dramatic landscape rose to the left...
Then this signed beckoned, and drew us off course!
The Southern Alps rise in the distance.
Soon you are enveloped by the vines in Emma's Block at Rippon.
Flowers push up under vines heavy with grapes...
Storm clouds gathered and it began to drizzle.
The path drew us higher, up to the tasting room.
Past the machinery...
Pausing to glance behind, the vineyards sprawl to the lake.
The small island offshore helps to mediate the microclimate.
The views become more spectacular the higher you go... And after this long hike, the reward is a flight of Rippon! Stay tuned for tomorrow's adventures...
