Horton Vineyards is home to the oldest Viognier vineyard (planted in 1991) in Virginia. Horton is also well known for a few unique bottlings, notably Petit Manseng, sparkling Viognier, and Virginia's indigenous Norton grape variety. The winery's willingness to work with unique grape varieties has helped shape the Virginia wine landscape that exists today, in particular the way Virginia is known for Viognier and Norton. Here's a link to an article I wrote for the C-Ville Weekly about Horton Vineyards. |
